Get going dance

Expert advice

E ven though it is understood that exercise and dance is beneficial for physical, cognitive and emotional well-being, it is sometimes hard to get going. It may seem that dance requires a high level of skill, confidence and even training. In this video, Dr Olivia Millard suggests some ways to get dancing without having to learn any steps or sequences. Movements can be with any part of the body, big or small and at any speed. The ideas in this video could also be used to dance with a favourite song or piece of music.

Speaker

Olivia Millard is a Lecturer in Art and Performance (Dance) at Deakin University who completed her PhD in 2013. Olivia’s early career was as a performer and choreographer working nationally and internationally. She received several grants to create work and has had local and international commissions.

Olivia’s research involves various collaborative projects centred around dance including the AllPlay Dance project
