Peer mediation and group work
Research has found that peer mediation is one of the most effective approaches for supporting the inclusion of students and the development of social skills at school. Peer mediation is particularly relevant for students who find joining in or engaging with peers challenging, such as students with autism.

In some cases, a child and their family may wish to disclose their disability to peers. Developing positive peer perceptions of disability is important for social inclusion of a child with disability. There are a number of ways in which this can be done, including inviting an expert to talk with the class or providing opportunities for the child and their family to share.
